Project 365

The "Photo 365" project was the start of all this blogging stuff...I had read about this in PhotoJojo and thought it was a neat idea. I also knew that, if I started it, I would finish it one way or the other (See 'about me').  I already had a sweet little camera, a Canon PowerShot SD960 IS, not fancy and tricked-out, but still too complex for me (sadly, that is still the case.) So, on January 1, 2010, my project began.

Looking back, I've realized several things:

1) A 365-project is a good undertaking for anyone who wants to get better at anything, but it is especially good for photography. It forces you to look for pictures in less than obvious places. Even now, I will drive by and think, "oh, that could be a cool shot."

2) Good pictures are everywhere. 2010 was a low-travel year for me. Other than a short trip to the In-laws at Easter, I was pretty much locked into SoCal. I found many of my shots within walking distance of my work.

3) Sometimes you have to make a choice....cool public self or eccentric? My kids and maybe my husband, got annoyed a lot and embarressed at times.  I have to give them that...at times I probably looked like a creeper.

4) Some people have no sense of humor.

5) Said people got huffy when I would take a picture of something in their yard. Hey, I always stayed on the sidewalk, and never took pictures of people (except my own). Still, I learned to be a stealth photographer...so sue me, I just didn't want to deal.....

6) I have great friends & family. I was kind of nervous posting my pictures on Facebook, but everyone was really cool and supportive about it.

7) Now some of my photos are on Picasa as well. I'm including the link if you want to look. Future posts may talk about some of the pictures specifically, although my skillset doesn't yet include posting random pictures within a post.

8) I have tons to learn. Stay tuned.
